Investigation proves rental vans in good condition

A recent investigation into a number of van hire companies has revealed that most vehicles available for rent are in good condition.

Although most people would turn to the Yellow Pages to locate a van hire company, there is often little clue about costs, service, vehicle condition or van insurance until visiting a hire company in person.

With this in mind, Farmers Weekly and sister magazine Commercial Motor teamed up to make an undercover assessment of the performance of a number of van hire firms.

Levels of service were monitored from the initial telephone enquiry through to the collection of the vehicle, with Freight Transport Association inspectors brought in to assess whether the vans were in proper working order.

Results of the investigation proved that although some vehicles were in a better condition than others, the majority were fully road worthy.

The investigative team also found that although all the rental prices were within the same margin, shopping around was recommended in order to get the best deal.
