Water fleet makes savings on tyres
Mon, 20 Mar 2006
Anglia Water has made savings on its fleet of vehicles by changing tyres.
Switching to Michelin products saw the firm cut tyre costs by 7.5 per cent a year.
Neil Bessant, of Anglia Water, said: "The costs associated with running a commercial fleet are high and particularly with the soaring cost of diesel, any savings generated help to ensure our business operates as efficiently as possible."
One of the biggest savings came from fewer breakdowns. In 2003 154 incidents caused by tyre related issues were reported, but this year only 69 are forecast.
Mr Bessant said: "We expect to suffer 85 less breakdowns in the second year of the Michelin agreement, which equates to an increase in fleet uptime of 128 hours."
A further way to cut the costs of running a fleet is to ensure you have good value fleet insurance.
