Fleet of Q pods hit London
Thu, 04 May 2006
The London-based courier company Premier Despatch will be hoping for a good deal on their fleet insurance this month with the introduction of their new 'Q pods' small bubble-shaped cars.
Resembling dune-buggies, the cars can achieve a top speed of 45 mph and can do 60 miles to the gallon.
They are also environmentally friendly, producing less CO2 than other motorised vehicles.
Q pods are also much safer than the motorbikes and mopeds that currently serve the capital's courier industry, due to their full rollover protection a fact that could see the company's fleet insurance costs fall.
Commenting on the new fleet, chairman of Premier Despatch Kevin Jenkins said that the Q pods were a fun addition to London's streets.
"This is the most ingenious dispatch vehicle for over decade. They are great fun and avoid the emissions that suffocate the city with pollution," he said.
"The Q pod will put a smile on a lot of people's faces when they see it at work delivering parcels to London's businesses."
