Driver risk assessments for company fleets
An online driver risk assessment system had been launched for company cars and emergency services.
Cranfield University and driver training specialists, Peak Performance, have developed the Driver Risk index (DRI) in order to allow fleet managers to identify training needs amongst their staff.
DRI's creator, Dr Lisa Dorn, is a driver behaviour expert and hopes that the technology will help to reduce the number of accidents on the roads as well as to lower fleet insurance costs.
"In addition to identifying those drivers at high risk of accidents, the DRI also shows some of the reasons why people are at high risk," said Dr Dorn.
"Understanding what is causing increased risks for individual drivers enables fleet managers to manage and reduce the risk through more targeted training."
For company owners looking to lower their fleet insurance costs, the DRI has applications which can be used by corporate, public sector or emergency services fleets and is available to purchase online.
