Road rage leading to dented confidence

Recent research has revealed that more than 15 per cent of women and 11 per cent of men claim to have been victims of bullying on the UK's roads.

According to online car rental company carrentals.co.uk the survey of over 1,000 drivers nationwide indicated that almost 4.5 million drivers had experienced road rage and that in some cases this had led to a loss of confidence behind the wheel.

Motorway chases, tail-gating, verbal abuse and even violent physical attacks and intimidation have led to a lack of confidence, particularly in women drivers, the survey showed.

Managing director of carrentals.co.uk, Andrew Stevens, told the Yorkshire Post: "The results of the survey show just how bad the problem of road bullying has become.

"This issue isn't going to just go away. We need all organisations connected with driving, together with the government and the police to take action and offer far more advice on road safety so we can start to combat the bully antics that are becoming a daily part of life on our roads."

In addition, 72 per cent of drivers said that they believed cases of road bullying were becoming more common, highlighting the need for adequate car insurance.
