Privilege upgrades car hire insurance policy
Tue, 27 Sep 2005
Insurance company Privilege is upgrading its car hire policy for customers whose vehicle is off the road.
Customers who opt for the Guaranteed Hire Car option will be provided with a family size 'Class D' vehicle instead of the smaller models usually offered by the insurer.
The option will extend the existing policy, which currently allows Privilege customers with comprehensive car insurance to claim a courtesy car while theirs is being repaired by a Privilege approved dealer.
Covering write-offs and theft, the extended policy will provide customers with the use of a VW Golf for up to 14 days after the incident.
Managing director of Privilege Insurance, Ian Parker, explained that while a small courtesy car was enough for some customers, the added option of a larger vehicle would greatly benefit many of the policy's subscribers.
"Whether they need the space for the school run, suitcases or a set of golf clubs, the extra room in a family-sized replacement could make their own car being off the road a little less inconvenient," he said.
Guaranteed Hire Car costs an additional £25.20, and is available as an optional extra for all Privilege customers.
