Man reunited with stolen car after 37 years

A man who reported his car missing 37 years ago has been reunited with the vehicle, it has been reported.

The Corvette, identified by customs officers after a routine check, had been filed as missing on January 22nd, 1969.

Officers in California stopped the car being shipped out to Sweden, after which police in New York searched through old records in order to come up with the original owner, Alan Poster's, name.

The car will need a new petrol tank and radiator, but the vehicle is now worth more than three times what Mr Poster paid for it however.

Mr Poster, who was 26 when his car disappeared from outside his Manhattan home, said that being reunited with the car was "like getting an old friend back".

With no car insurance policy at the time of the theft, Mr Poster added that he had never forgotten his '68 Corvetter: "It's not getting away from me again," he said.
