Gales arrive to make tough driving conditions

Motorists across the UK are being urged to take extra care this week as the country prepares to face severe winds.

Gales are set to batter the south and south west in particular and many drivers will need to have comprehensive insurance cover if they are to avoid forking out large sums of money due to damage caused by the winds.

A Highways Agency spokesman stated: "Anyone driving high-sided vehicles or towing a caravan, or those on two wheels should take care."

He added that motorists should "keep well back when they are overtaking high-sided vehicles", due to the potential for turbulence to cause problems.

The severe winds are arriving as part of an Atlantic Depression which is set to cause serious weather conditions for drivers, particularly in the south, resulting in the warning from the Highways Agency.
