Motorbike sales on the rise

Sales of motorbikes in the UK have risen over the last year, the Motorcycle Industry Federation (MCI) has revealed.

According to the MCI, which has not yet made actual figures available, sales of motorcycles were up by six per cent compared with August 2004.

The Sport Touring sector drove demand, the MCI revealed, with an increase of ten per cent in demand for this style of bike compared with one year ago, and despite a number of months of uninspiring sales figures.

But the Adventure Sport sector remained the biggest growing sector in recent months, showing an increase of almost a third (32 per cent) on figures for the year to date.

Naked bikes also performed well on the year to date figures, registering an increase of almost a fifth (17 per cent), in line with their market share of one fifth.

All brands of bikes, and their riders, will benefit from comprehensive bike insurance cover.
