Learn to be bike safe
Tue, 21 Mar 2006
Motorcyclists are being given the chance to learn a few new skills to keep them safer on the roads for free.
April 1st and 2nd will see the annual National BikeSafe event taking place at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire.
Those heading to the event will get the opportunity to admire the up to date models on display and benefit from a free BikeSafe assessed ride and assessment provided by some of the country's top motorcycle cops.
Riding assessments either take place on a rider's own bike or a new model from one of the many manufacturers at the event.
There will also be stunt bike and drag racing demonstrations, music and plenty for all the family, not only bike lovers.
Karen Cooke, of the Motor Cycle Industry Association, said: "Based on last year's experience we know that people enjoyed the day out, but it is important to remember that there is a serious side to the event.
"We want riders to think more about their own skills and experience and take further training to help them become better riders and get more from their machines."
Learning to keep safe while riding is of paramount importance along with ensuring you have good quality bike insurance in place.
