First blood to Alonso

Fernando Alonso held off a challenge from Michael Schumacher to win the opening Grand Prix of the 2006 Formula One season.
The Renault world champion repeated his victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix last year in sunny, hot conditions; congratulating his team for their effective strategy and pit-stop work.
Many pundits are predicting that the race's crucial moment, when Alonso and Schumacher nearly touched as the Spaniard emerged from his final pit stop, will be repeated throughout the coming season.
"It was a thrilling race," said Renault's engineering director, Pat Symonds.
"It showed us that there is going to be a lot of close and exciting racing this year."
Fernando Alonso became the youngest ever driver to win the Formula One championship last year at the age of 24, but this year he will again have to face off a challenge from the experienced Michael Schumacher, who has won seven drivers' titles in his 232 race career.
Whether emulating a meteoric rising star or a seasoned veteran, it's important that would-be champions always ensure they have adequate bike insurance.
