Tips if things go wrong

So you get into your car and it won't start, here is a few tips from Express, to help you out.

Diesel Engine
Move the key so that the glow plug (position II) lights, wait until it goes off, then crank the engine for 20 seconds until it starts. If it does not start repeat the procedure.

Petrol Engine
Work out if the engine is turning over fast or slow. If it's fast then it's probably flooded, make sure it's out of gear, and put your foot fully down on the accelerator, which will clear the engine of any extra fuel and crank the engine at the same time for at least 20 seconds. Take your foot off the accelerator once it's started. Otherwise, if it is turning over slowly then it probably has a flat battery.

Automatic Car
It could be that you need to move the gear lever into "Neutral" or "Park" several times, and only try to start it in one of these positions

Otherwise, it could be a flat battery. Turn off all things that use energy, including interior and exterior lights, radio, heating. If the engine has tried to turn over then it may still have a bit of energy left, leave it for 20 minutes and try again. If it doesn't even try to start over then you will have to get some energy into it, by jump starting it, or by getting a new battery.

If those tips don't work then sorry but best thing to do it call out your breakdown company.
