Fiat lends its support to vehicle scrappage scheme

7th May 2009

Fiat Professional has announced that it will fully participate in the government's vehicle scrappage scheme, in news of interest to people looking for cheap van insurance.

The initiative gives a £1,000 cash incentive towards a new vehicle for motorists who scrap their old ones.

Under the scheme, customers will be able to afford a new Fiat Fiorino, which was named International Van of the Year 2009 by motoring journalists from 20 European countries, for just £5,795.

The Fiorino's 73 bhp 1.4 petrol and the 75 bhp 1.3 MultiJet turbodiesel power units are environmentally friendly and offer low running costs, with the latter unit promising a range of 600 miles on a full tank of diesel.

"We welcome the opportunity to more than match the chancellor's offer in the scrappage scheme, which will help the UK's van industry in terms of business costs and the environment," said Gerry Clarke, director of Fiat Professional.

The manufacturer will also contribute additional cash towards customers scrapping old vehicles to buy vans from the Grande Punto, Doblo and Scudo ranges.ADNFCR-1602-ID-19157115-ADNFCR
