Fiat keeps Sweden's mail moving
12th June 2009
People looking for cheap van insurance have been told that Fiat has signed a major deal to supply 3,000 vans to the Swedish post office.
The Fiat Fiorino 1.3 MultiJet vans with six-speed Comfort-matic semi-automatic transmissions will be delivered to Posten, which is one of the biggest companies in Sweden with 30,000 employees on its books.
Modified internal illumination, featuring high-powered LEDs, and a utility kit are some of the modifications being made to optimise the vans for the job.
Additionally, all the Fiorinos will be right-hand drive and will be painted in the distinctive yellow livery of the Swedish post office.
The vans were partially chosen for their low fuel consumption and reduced emissions, as environmental considerations are high on the agenda in Sweden.
Fiat recently delivered more than 100 of its Grande Punto vans to leading energy company E.ON, where they will be used to transport the firm's engineers around the UK.
