Boxer vans delivered to Northumbria Police

4th June 2009

People looking for cheap van insurance have been told that Peugeot's Boxer vans are helping the fight against crime in Northumbria.

The 12-tonne vans, supplied by Peugeot's special vehicle operations division, will be used as police support unit carriers to transport officers charged with maintaining order and crowd control at events such as football matches.

Keith Wilson, fleet manager at Northumbria Police, said: "We chose the Peugeot vans as we found that they can carry more equipment than previous vehicles, thanks to their squarer shape.

"Peugeot's simple one-stop shop service was also very appealing, as it made the purchasing process as simple and straightforward as possible."

Each van will be on 24-hour standby, ready to respond to emergencies with protective shields, helmets, uniforms and communications equipment.

Devon-based auto parts company Kevin Cooper Motor Factory recently reduced its fuel bills by 40 per cent after switching to a fleet of 30 Peugeot Bipper vans.
