Suzuki suffers 'frustrating first round'

24th February 2009

Motorcycle racing enthusiasts may be disappointed to hear that the Relentless Suzuki MX team suffered a difficult first round at the ACU British MMX Championship.

Despite a promising start from Martin Barr, who was in second place at the beginning, the race was subsequently stopped due to an accident.

When it restarted, both Barr and his teammate Jamie Law were unable to find their top ten positions again. In the end, Barr finished in 13th place, while his teammate could only manage 15th.

Commenting on the race, Rob Hooper, Suzuki MX team manager, said: "It's been a frustrating first round for us all. Both riders showed their speed and potential, but sadly couldn't back this up with results."

Mr Hopper said, however, that the team was "pleased to welcome New Zealander Scott Columb to the team".

Columb is set to temporarily replace Scott Probert, who is currently injured and unable to compete.

Bikers who simply want to ride their bikes on the road, rather than race them, can cut back their costs by researching the best bike insurance deals.

Suzuki began to build motorcycles in 1952. The Japanese manufacturing giant competes in the Moto GP and the team has been sponsored by Rizla since 2006.ADNFCR-1602-ID-19042108-ADNFCR
