Mixed fortunes for Honda at Donington

27th May 2009

Motorcycle insurance customers saw the HM Plant Honda and Padgetts Honda experience a weekend of mixed fortunes at the third round of the British Superbike Championship.

Josh Brookes collided with Sylvain Guintoli on the sighting lap of the opening race at Donington Park, causing Guintoli to suffer a broken leg and resulting in a one-race suspended ban for Brookes.

Teammate Glen Richards had more success, finishing in fourth and fifth places respectively.

The highlight of Honda's weekend came from Steve Plater, who worked his way from ninth position in the British Supersport class to an impressive podium finish, placing him at the forefront of the championship.

"I knew my package of the bike and tyres was right for the race distance, so just kept consistent and chipped away as I knew I could catch the guys in front, which I did two laps from the end and took the lead," commented Plater.

Plater's performance is a marked improvement on his showing at Oulton Park earlier in the month, which saw the Honda rider come in at 11th despite setting the fastest lap of the race.ADNFCR-1602-ID-19188054-ADNFCR
