Experienced riders 'can keep others safe'

27th April 2009

Expert motorcyclists are being called upon to help newer riders avoid accidents, which can increase motorcycle insurance premiums.

As more motorcyclists take to the road in the warmer weather, Tyresafe has teamed up with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) to launch Bike Tyre Safety Month, which aims to promote the importance of keeping tyres in the best possible shape among bikers.

IAM chief examiner Peter Rodger says experienced bikers can help to engage others within their owner's clubs and at rallies and race meetings to remind them of the importance of safe riding.

"By conducting a few simple checks, bikers can increase their safety on the roads, helping to prevent accidents caused by defective tyres," he added.

Tyresafe kicked off Bike Tyre Safety Month in April by offering a free 90-degree tyre valve extension to the first 300 bikers to sign up to its e-newsletter.ADNFCR-1602-ID-19140481-ADNFCR
