Mercedes announce new AMG

Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of its new high performance coupe, the SL 65 AMG Black series.

The powerful two-seater sports car represents the continuation of the highly successful AMG Black Series performance brand - with a six litre V12 turbo producing super sports car level performance.

The engine specifications for the SL 65 AMG make it the most powerful to date, going from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 199 miles per hour.

Unfortunately just 350 units of the remarkable super coupe will be built over a two-year period, with just nine right hand drive examples coming to the UK, each costing £214,000.

AMG development boss Tobias Moers ruled out an extension on these numbers.

He said: "Once we have reached 350 that will be it, our tooling won't allow for any more."

High-end car insurance customers will also be pleased to hear that that McLaren plan to release its long-awaited second super-car in 2010. ADNFCR-1602-ID-18680684-ADNFCR
