Land Rover claims two auto express accolades

The Land Rover has fought off tough competition to win two prizes at the Auto Express New Car Awards.

The Freelander beat the likes of the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Kuga to win the 'Best Compact Sports Utility Vehicle' (SUV), before the Discovery 3 triumphed in the 'Best Premium SUV' category against the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and the Mercedes M-Class.

In other awards, the Jaguar XF claimed the premier title of 'Car of the Year', whilst also claiming victory in the 'Best Executive Car' category.

"When it comes to building compact sports utility vehicles, Land Rover cannot be matched, said Auto Express road tester," Chris Thorp.

"Not only is the Freelander 2 as capable on the road as it is off it, the upmarket 4x4 is as refined as some of the best limousines," he added.
