Improved Citroen C-Crosser unveiled

30th June 2008

Citroen has unveiled details about its new C-Crosser range, which boasts a more powerful engine and an improved gear box.

The manufacturer revealed that the new C-Crosser model features a 170hp, 2.4 litre petrol engine that it claims is more powerful that its processor.

It also offers a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that improves fuel efficiency and performance and could result in lower car insurance premiums.

The company explained: "Providing the convenience of an automatic, with an infinite number of ratios, together with the driver involvement of a manual, thanks to a 'Sport Mode' function, the CVT features steering wheel mounted paddles to allow the engine to rev higher and boost driver enjoyment.

"The system avoids unnecessary gear shifts, provides engine braking and smooth gear changes whilst continuously and automatically adapting to engine load and conditions."

According to the company, the new VTR version of the C-Crosser starts at £19,995, meaning that it could appeal to drivers keen to save money in the face of rising car insurance premiums and fuel costs.
