Ford announces eco-friendly Fiesta

8th July 2008

Ford will unveil the latest addition to its environmentally friendly ECOcentric range, the Ford Fiesta, at the British International Motor Show.

The Fiesta is set to offer the best CO2 fuel economy of any four-cylinder, four-seat vehicles on the market - joining Ford's range of cars emitting under 120 grams of carbon per kilometre and achieving over 64 miles per gallon.

This arrival coincides with accelerated sales of the brands low emission cars, with the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reporting a 38 per cent surge in purchases of these models.

Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain's chairman and managing director, said: "The British motor show is scheduled to bring half a million car enthusiasts to Ford's East London heartland.

"Many will pass our wind-powered Dagenham plant on the way, where annual production will top one million engines this year, in response to the shift to eco friendly models."

Last month, Ford cars sold to retail or private purchasers rose by 7.6 per cent on June's figures, as car insurance customers were drawn by the new Focus, Kuga and S-MAX.ADNFCR-1602-ID-18675002-ADNFCR
