Motorists collect chips
10th September 2008
Kwik-Fit is warning motorists against using the credit crunch as an excuse for not repairing their windscreens.
The vehicle repairs company has conducted research which found that 10.5 million drivers have amassed around 15.4 million chips in their car windscreens that they have not repaired, which could cost them more in the long-run.
Kwik-Fit has revealed that most car insurance companies will repair a chipped windscreen for free without ruining the drivers' no-claims bonus.
David White, customer services director, said: "Even though money might be tight, theres really no reason to put off repairing a chipped windscreen.
"Motorists seem to forget that most insurers will repair a chip for free. So putting off repairs is clearly a flawed way of economising."
For motorists with cheap car insurance, that do not cover chipped windscreens, Kwik-Fit's glass repair costs just £44.95 and are acceptable for MOT tests.
