British drivers influenced by environment
22nd August 2008
One in four British car buyers will be influenced by environmental concerns when they purchase their next vehicle, a new survey has revealed.
Experian, the global information services company, found that 55 per cent of car owners admit to being concerned about the impact their car has on the environment, though only 26 per cent cite that this will be a factor when they next buy a vehicle.
The poll also disclosed that women are significantly more likely than men to worry about whether their car affects the environment, with 65 per cent of women showing concern compared to just 45 per cent of men.
"Our research shows that the environment is clearly becoming a bigger concern for car owners," said the managing director of Experian's automotive division, Kirk Fetcher.
"In our opinion, this is more likely to continue to grow rather than diminish and needs to be factored into the sales process," he added.
Last week, EurotaxGlass revealed that the value of less-efficient cars is continuing to decrease as a growing number of motorists shift to smaller vehicles, which have cheaper car insurance quotes.
