Plug-in grants welcomed by mia electric

Many of those taking out van insurance before purchasing an ultra low-carbon vehicle could opt for a model from mia electric.

The company has revealed three of its motors have qualified for the government's plug-in van and car grants, which provide people with a discount when they buy certain eco-friendly vehicles.

They will be launched in the UK later this year and the cars have been created by former head of design at Volkswagen Murat Gunak.

All of the vehicles are powered by an 18kW electric motor and take just five hours to fully charge.

Welcoming the plug-in grants, head of UK sales at mia electric Richard Deslandes said: "These incentive schemes are absolutely vital if UK motorists are going to be encouraged to make the switch to zero-emission mobility."

The Department for Transport noted vans are particularly suited to electric, as they are usually driven along similar routes and distances every day.
