Shakey to Seek New Challenge Next Season
28 September 2010

Following the weekend's race action at the Italian Circuit of
Imola, Express Insurance Sponsored Shane 'Shakey' Byrne will be
seeking a new challenge in the 2011 race season.
After picking up an injury to his left hand part way through the
season, Shakey has been working hard to find his form approaching
the end of the 2010 Season. At last weekends races at Imola, Shakey
finished both races in the top 8.
However, he will not be riding for the Althea Ducati Racing Team
in the next season's championship. Following a press conference
Team Manager, Genesio Bevilacqua, said he will unfortunately be
unable to renew the team contract with Shakey due to 'economic
situations'.
The Althea Ducati Racing Team's general manager Genesio
Bevilacqua commented: "We have had a great relationship with Shane
but unfortunately the economics of the situation will not allow us
to continue to work with him."
The situation leaves Shane Byrne, former 2-time British
Superbike champion seeking new challenges for next season. One
thing can be sure, a rider of such quality as Shakey won't be short
of offers despite having a difficult season in 2010.
