Maxxis MX Round Six - Farleigh Castle - Results

Round up of all the race action at Farleigh Castle
The races at Farleigh Castle yesterday produced lots of gripping action and had the crowds on their feet.

MX1 put to the Sword in round 6
Local Buildbase CCM rider Stephen Sword gave his team their first major success winning the sixth round of the championship. Sword looked more comfortable on the grassy track than the other riders and seemed at ease with his bike from the start of the day in his Timed Training session. He took two wins in the first and third motos, which was supported with a strong second place finish in the middle race, which secured his position on top of the podium.

CAS Honda rider and Championship leader Evgeny Bobreshev stated he was "happy with the second step on the podium with 5-1-2 results". With only six races remaining in the 2010 Maxxis MX Championship, the Russian looks set to take his first British Title.

The Current Champion and PAR Honda rider, Brad Anderson finished in strong positions in races one and two, but struggled in the final race and 9th place was just enough to take the lower step on the podium. It is now looking less likely that he will retain his title this season.

Drama in MX2 races as Osborne stays on top
In the MX2 class, the day was even worse for current title contender and HM Plant Red Bull KTM rider Jake Nicholls who failed to make it into the early Superpole qualifying session. Starting from the back of the field, Nicholls had to push past other riders in the pack and finished outside a podium place. He finished in 6th and 2nd in races one and two and a disappointing 20th position in the final race after a first lap crash left him out of contention.

On the other hand, current Championship leader, Zach Osborne (Bike It Cosworth Yamaha) had an excellent day and took three wins putting him on the top of the podium. Samsung Yamaha rider Neville Bradshaw also had a strong day finishing second overall, whilst DB Racing's Elliot Banks-Browne took a well deserved third on the day.

The seventh round of the championship is on the 29th August and is being held at Silverstone.
