26 July 2010

Race Results from all the round 5 axction at
Foxhills
In what was an eventful days racing at Foxhills, we bring you a
breakdown of all the days action in the MX1 and MX" classes of the
Maxxis British Motocross Championship
MX2 - Race Results
After an unfortunate crash in the earlier qualifying sessions,
American Zach Osborne riding the Bike It Cosworth Yamaha recovered
well. In the first MX2 moto, he started from the very outside gate
and took an extremely fast line down the longest straight entering
the first corner in sixth position. It was Osborne's main rival,
Jake Nicholls who took full advantage of this situation and moved
swiftly to the front gaining a comfortable lead where he was able
to control the race.
It turned out to be quite a successful day for MX2 series leader
Zach Osborne who managed to limit the potential damage from his
earlier crash. In moto one and two, Osborne lost 21 points to his
main rival Jake Nicholls, finishing in fourth and tenth for the two
races. This allowed Nicholls riding the KTM to take two comfortable
wins. Going into the third and final moto, it looked like Osborne
might have to give up his title of series leader, but after taking
a fast line from the very outside gate he flew to the front of the
pack and this time it was Nicholls left behind from a mid pack
start. There was drama elsewhere in the field as Samsung Yamaha
rider, Neville Bradshaw was heading for his best result of the
season in second position overall until the last lap when a he
collided with fellow MX2 rider Scott Elderfield, knocking the
South African off the podium.
MX1 - Race Results
MX1's Russian rider, Evgeny Bobreshev has just returned from a two
week holiday at home, but on his return to the race track, he
didn't have everything his own way. He started the day well with a
fast qualifying session which put him into a strong pole position,
however in his first moto of the day he had a race long battle with
Buildbase CCM's Stephen Sword, where the local man took a
confidence building win. Sword shadowed Bobreshev for most of the
race, eventually making a move at the bottom of one of the steep
downhill sections at Foxhill to record the first race win of the
day - much to the delight of the home fans. Nearing the end of race
1, it looked as if it was going to be another easy win for
Bobreshev, but a determined effort from Sword meant that once he
passed Bobreshev there was little challenge for first place and
Sword took a well deserved moto win.
After Sword took a great lead in the first race, it was
subsequently back to normal in the second and third motos with
Bobreshev leading the pack again. It wasn't an easy ride for
Bobreshev with current Champion, Brad Anderson making him work hard
in moto two and Sword keeping on the pressure in the third.
Factory Aprilia rider, Josh Coppins achieved 4-3-3 results in
the three races to take third overall, sharing the points with
Anderson's 3-2-5, on a day which saw plenty of action from the race
tracks.
