Maxxis MX Round Five - Foxhills - Qualifying

Round Five Qualifying Results from Foxhills, Swindon

MX2 - Qualifying
The morning races kicked off with qualifying in the MX2 class at Foxhill today, where there was drama within the first minute of Timed Practice as Championship leader, Zach Osborne, suffered an early crash. This left the American rider stunned and he only managed to record a lap time of over 14 minutes in the Q1 Qualifying session, leaving him on the outside gate for when the races start this afternoon.

Zach's closest challenger, Jake Nicholls riding for HM Plant Red Bull KTM, saw the crash as a window of opportunity and took full advantage of the situation to finish the Q1 session in 1st place. This wasn't to last however and in the Q2 Superpole, Martin Barr riding for PAR Honda took his first Pole of the season. Neville Bradshaw (Samsung Maxxis Yamaha) dropped off from second to fourth leaving the second Bike It Cosworth Yamaha rider, Mel Pocock an opportunity to slip into third position.

Bryan MacKenzie (Thor Horseman Kawasaki) was fifth, Scott Elderfield (PAR Honda) sixth, Alan Keet (Danger UK KTM) seventh, Kristian Whatley (Maxxis Henderson LPE Kawasaki) eigth, Elliot Banks Browne (DB Racing Honda) ninth and Luke Hawkins (PAR Honda) completed the top ten.

MX1 - Qualifying
CAS Honda rider Evgeny Bobreshev showed off his class at Foxhill this weekend and continued his recent form dominating both MX1 qualifying sessions. He managed to finish both of the mornings sessions one and a half seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Jason Dougan who is riding for Phoenix Tools Bike It Cosworth. Further back in the field we saw Aprilla rider, Josh Coppins record his best Qualifying time so far this season finishing in 4th position. After the session, he spoke confidently about his chances of a podium place come the end of the day.

The Current MX1 Champion, Brad Anderson riding for PAR Honda finished 5th in both Q1 and Q2 sessions this morning, where this is surely a make or break event if he is to retain his title in 2010.
