Road rage increases risk of car insurance claims
27 August 2010

Drivers suffering from road rage could significantly impact the number of car insurance claims being made, it has been found.
A recent piece of research carried out by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) found that 70 per cent of motorists reported feeling infuriated by other road users.
A further 28 per cent confirmed that feeling angry while driving significantly affected their motoring skills and techniques.
The most offensive driving behaviour was found to be tailgating with 28 per cent of motorists claiming it be the most provocative motoring habit.
It was also found that drivers were not happy with other road users taking calls on their cell phones while behind the wheel.
Neil Greig, IAM director of policy and research, said: "It is good to see motorists disapproving of bad driving, especially mobile phone use which is on the rise, but it's worrying that so many still get angry when driving."
Another recent survey released by the IAM found that 44 per cent of motorists supported the government's decision to cut funding for speed cameras.
