Car insurance customers have been urged to take special interest in the transport used by their children to go to school by a leading road safety expert.
Often vehicles as well as drivers who transport children to school fail to meet expected standards and regulations, pointed out GEM Motoring Assist.
"That's why we are urging any parents whose children use coaches, minibuses and private hire taxis, to ensure that head teachers ask for regular inspections of driving licences, permits, CRB checks and any other appropriate documents," said David Williams, chief executive of GEM Motoring Assist.
Recently, the credibility of drivers has especially come under scrutiny with Swiftcover.com revealing that a large number of fraudulent car insurance claims were being made to cover for regular repair work.
These claims are no doubt increasing the financial burden of honest road users who are having to bear an additional £1.25 billion each year in insurance expenses.
