BRAKE welcomes Christmas crackdown on drunk drivers
1 December 2011

Road safety charity BRAKE has welcomed the police crackdown on drink and drug drivers by the new Association of Chief Police Officers on road safety DCC Suzette Davenport.
A breath-testing campaign carried out by the police in the summer revealed that an increasing number of people are running the risk of drink driving so the police have moved to quell this worrying increase with the festive party season in full swing.
Senior campaigns officer for BRAKE Ellen Booth said the charity was fully behind the police crackdown and hoped this would decrease the number of accidents in the holiday period.
"We urge drivers to imagine the consequences for a second and realise it’s never worth chancing your life and other people’s. Our simple message is not a drop, not a drag," she added.
The charity's Not a drop, not a drag campaign is aiming to see the drink drive limit decreased and also the growing use of drug testing equipment by police at the roadside.
