Air-con is 'the most important' add-on

Car insurance customers are most fond of the air conditioning system in their vehicles, it has been found.

A recent piece of research carried out by Exchange and Mart revealed that 81 per cent of motorists considered air conditioning to be most important add-on feature.

Another 67 per cent believed that it was important to have cars fitted out with proper alarms and immobilisers.

Michael Tang, marketing communications manager at the magazine, noted that more people hunting for a bargain deal could increase sales in the used car market.

Commenting on the research, he added: "Our survey shows that motorists value practical features the most."

The report also found that TV and DVD players were not considered as important by 67 per cent of drivers, while 58 per cent did not feel the need to fit sub-woofers into their vehicles.
