Penultimate Hopes and Dreams
The penultimate round of this years Express Insurance BYMX championship series proved to be yet another brilliant event  at Lower Gelt Farm near Brampton in East Cumbria. The weather may not have been at it's very best with a showery weekend, but the racing certainly was.

Keenan Hird delivered a polished performance that secured his first well deserved overall BYMX series win carding a 3-1-2-2-1 result. Albie Wilkie won race four however and still retains his championship lead after finishing in third place overall. Albie is now on a 267 point total with Keenan moving up one place into second spot, 13 points behind . Second place on the podium at Lower Gelt went to the winner of the opening moto Taylor Hammal. Alex Brown was really unlucky in race five but generally turned in a truly stunning weekend display that also included one heat win and he finished in fourth overall.

Josh Gilbert extends his lead in SW 85cc
In the SW 85cc division a resounding and confident winning weekend display from young Cornishman Josh Gilbert that included one heat win now puts him in the Small Wheel box seat with a 15 point series lead over Robert Yates and Oliver Osmaston who are now tied in second position. Oliver finished as the runner up in Cumbria carding a brace of moto wins - and a cracking day two performance also from Jay Lamb elevating him into third on the day. Robert Yates unluckily had to settle for fourth following a big off in race five. Elsewhere in the section Greg Hyett claimed a brilliant first heat win but fell heavily second time out, and that ultimately ruined his weekend chances. Conrad Mewse won moto two but retired from the meeting during race four - however sparkling shows from both Alfie Bowtell and Lewis Houghton got them on to the end of day box in positions five and six.

Honda dominates the Big Wheel
Moving on to the BW 85cc class Adam Sterry  like Josh Gilbert remained cool, calm and collected to eventually stretch his Championship advantage to a clear 23 point margin over Ben Watson who finished in fourth place overall. The individual heat wins went to Sterry and Garland twice with James Harrison getting in on the act to claim the race five victory. The Honda mounted trio dominated completely as it all resulted with a Sterry, Harrison, Garland 1-2-3.

And in the Youth Open class Tom Kelly won the round six event and also took over from Nathan Watson as the second place sitter in the championship chase all be it now 23 points behind the section leader Connor Walkley. Connor suffered a race four DQ for adjudged dangerous riding but still managed to finish in fifth place overall. Second overall on the day in Cumbria went to Gary Sharp and that despite getting stuck behind the start gate in race two and also suffering a rear wheel puncture in race five. Ryan McLean rode the event of his life to finish in third place overall and also won the Express Insurance Top Gun award. Nathan Watson finished in fourth overall and slipped to third in the Championship standings.

In the Adult Two Stroke support races John Richardson won the 250cc class but the absolute star of the weekend proved to be Suzuki mounted James Dunn as he took the lead in the 125cc championship following a real masterclass.
